Assignments and deadlines           Your current marks

The deadline for the homeworks is always the next examples class following the day the homework was given. It usually means one week (consult the schedule for the exact date). 

Homeworks are not accepted in any case after the actual set of problems are corrected and handed out.



 

1^st assignment:  Translation from English to Hungarian  

2^nd assignment: Problem 1.8-3, 1.8-4, p. 24 of the Callen book SOLUTION

3^rd assignment: Check the validity of various entropy functions click here 

4^th assignment: Mechanical equilibrium in adiabatic systems (refer to your Callen copies)

5^th assignment: Callen 2.2-4, Example 4 on the handout

 6^th assignment: From the handout: Exercise 1/c and finish Exercise 2.
                                From the next topic, Question 1.
                                Calculate work and heat for a Rankine cycle.

 7^th assignment: From the handout: Exercise 1/4, 2/1 and 2/2
                                Show that for an ideal gas alpha=1/T and kappa_P=1/P.                               

 8^th assignment: From the handout: Exercies 1 and 7. For 3 ***extra*** points: Exercise 5.

 9^th assignment: Atkins: Exercise 8.13(a).
Find the book called Physico-Chemical Constants of Binary Systems in the library and draw a phase diagram based on real data. Label the diagram and try to assign it to one of the types you have learnt in the class.

 10^th assignment: Atkins: Exercise 7.7(a), 7.16(b), 8.4(a), 8.8(a), For 2 ***extra*** points: Exercise 3 from 'Colligative properties'.
